(Digital) Archives or how to get research done from home

Research and working remotely became even more important and essential during the days of Covid-19 and the confinement. Archives, libraries are closed. How to get the sources for the research? Our three main archives for “Warlux”, the Archives Nationales de Luxembourg, Deutsche Dienststelle, the former Wehrmachtauskunftstelle (WASt, today Bundesarchiv Berlin) and the Military Archive in Freiburg closed their doors as well due to the virus. Sources, Databases, Libraries, Archives….

Before starting with “Warlux”, we need of course collect existing sources, databases etc. One website or “database” is essential for our project:

Ons Jongen a Meedercher by  Fédération des Enrôlés de force (FEDDEF)

The association “Fédération des Enrôlés de force (FEDDEF)” created this database as about the forced recruitment in Luxembourg.

This database, built up over the years, includes 19,500 names of people, themes, organizations and cities relating to forced recruitment.
